Small bites that win your heart at Chicon
No doubt that the team behind Contigo is brilliant. Locally sourced produce, creative dishes and a modern ambience, one can be very happy when all these criteria are met! And hello, EVERY DAY happy hour - sign me up :) Well, I got two kiddos so maybe not every day <lol>.
We recently had the opportunity to feast at their happy hour, thanks to our blogger friend Emily Teachout, who is the marketing director at Contigo Austin. On the menu were the following - excuse the iPhone tilted photo with bad framing.
I am serious you guys, I have never had a carrot hummus THAT good. Those vegetables so creatively placed - I am so stealing that idea.
The other highlight was the charred avocado - just the sound of that makes one excited! the beet mayo was sweet and tangy - again, I think I will steal that idea too for my entertaining. So so good. Plain simple vegetables - just presented so beautifully.
Next up, szechuan chicken wings - came very close to my favorite - the gangnam wings at Chilantro. These had one element in their favor - the red spice had a kick that was just the right heat on top of the semi-sweet sauce. If that doesn't do it - the crunch and subtle flavor from white and black sesame, yummm!
The Smoked trout dip was calming amidst all the bold flavors from the chicken. I loved the onions on top with the spring onions. The crackers - I pretty much used for everything on the table :)
Highly recommend Chicon or Contigo - lovely decor - chic and modern seating and great service. Will revisit. again. and again.
